Do you ever wonder how to find valid and reliable information on the alternative music industry? What makes me, for example, qualified to talk about this subject to such great detail?
Today's artist spotlight is about me: Mitchell. I'm no professional, but I do have a lot of love for the alternative music industry. My friends know it, my family knows it, and I know it. This is why you should read my music blog.
A Music Lover
It all started when I got my first guitar at a live auction outside my father's insurance business.
I showed up with a hundred dollars, which was a lot for a thirteen year-old kid. I got outbid, but the man who beat me saw how much I wanted the guitar and he traded me for it. So, I started to play.
I kept playing more and more until I got my first electric guitar a few years later. It was a Fender Telecaster, Bruce Springsteen's instrument of choice. After that, a couple of my buddies and I decided to start a little band and jam out together.
We called ourselves "Hybrid Nation," and though we never really played any gigs, we did have a really good time.
Learning About What Makes the Music
Through the years I've dabbled in some songwriting and learning about music through various means.
Patrick Worley is a professional classic guitarist. He worked with me once a week over the course of approximately half a year to teach me basic music theory, how to play by ear, and how to recognize the value of different chord progressions and artistic styles.
Learning some of the science behind music doesn't necessarily make me an expert, but it qualifies me to talk about it and share my thoughts on artists, songs, and albums.
Reviewing Music
Getproofed.com says that there are a few key parts that go into writing a music review. They are as follows:
Listen
Research is Key
Think About Context
Consider Different Angles
Avoid Bias
Be Honest
Write Clearly
Edit Your Review
Look for yourself and you'll see that I think about and contemplate each one of these steps in my reviews.
