Concerts Coming Back: 5 Ways to Have the Best Experience at Your Favorite Band's Show

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

Music Fans Attend a Concert

You’ve hoped for it. You’ve dreamed of it. There is a hole in your heart; a hole that can only be filled with the sweet sounds of modern, alternative music. And it’s just so much better when it’s live.

Bands and artists such as Tame Impala, Elton John, Milky Chance, Joywave, and more have all announced upcoming tours! With concerts coming back into swing, it’s important that you are able to have the best experience possible when you go. Here are 5 ways you can have the best experience at your favorite artist’s concert.

  1. Do Your Research Before Buying Tickets

There are lots of great deals out there... but there are also a lot of scams. I, myself, got scammed out of 80 dollars just last year when trying to purchase tickets to a Bastille concert. Don't let that happen to you!

Here's a few specific things you can do...

- If you're buying from a reseller, check on VerifiedTicketSource.com to make sure that they're legit.

- Use verifiable and reliable resources such as StubHub.com or SeatGeek.com

- Avoid potentially unreliable sources, like ads on Craigslist.com or people who won't provide basic information.

Getting a good deal on some good tickets is an important part of the experience. You don't want to start off on the wrong foot by going into the concert having spent much more money than you needed to spend.

2. Learn the Artist's Songs

There's nothing worse than going to a concert and sitting there awkwardly while everyone sings around you. It makes the experience significantly less fun, and you leave without having met your expectations.

Listen to the music. Learn to love not only the singles and the hits, but the deep cuts as well. Robert Wohner of ThoughtCatalog.com stated that, "knowing the setlist allows you to determine which songs are worth losing your lungs over and which songs you can rest your vocal cords. For me, anticipation is always better than being surprised."

3. Bring Some Friends

A Small Gig

If you're truly a fan of the band, then you'll enjoy it either way. However, going with a few people makes it just that much better. You'll feel more comfortable, and more willing to come out of your shell and just let go.

TheCapitolTheatre.com said it best when they said, "Going to concerts can be a deeply personal and emotional experience, and those wonderful moments of vulnerability make friendships stronger."

4. Arrive Early

Man Watches a Clock

I'm talking way early. If you've ever been to a highly publicized live event, then you'll know that there can be some long lines. These are annoying, but less so when you're near the front of it. Plus, sounddigest.com reminds us that "The bigger the venue, the more people will be there hanging around the venue and needing to find parking hours before the show."

This rule especially applies at venues that might be purely general admission. This means that there aren't assigned seats, so basically anything goes. If you are at the front of the line, then you'll be near the front of the stage. If not, then you'd better hope that all of the tall people were even later than you were.

5. Dance Baby Dance

You have to have fun while you're there! Jump up and down, wave your hands in the air, bang your head back and forth! Whatever your style, let others know that you're alive and that you're here for some quality alternative music. The more the crowd reacts, the better the band's performance will be.

Additionally, dancing will lead to improved condition of your heart and lungs, increased physical confidence, better social skills, and more! So, don't be shy. Get out there and show everyone what you're made of.

Conclusion

There are a lot of good shows coming up soon. Make sure to go out and catch one of them! And when you do, remember these 5 ways to have the best concert experience at your favorite band's show!
